Description	:	Miss Mary Lois Even, age 77, of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014, at the Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, December 6, at 10:30am, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. The Rev. Fr. Terry Roder will officiate. Interment will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:30pm on Friday, with a rosary at 4:00pm and a prayer service at 7:00pm, at the church. Mary Lois was born on August 25, 1937, in Alton, the daughter of Joseph T. “Matty” and Blanche (Sauer) Even She was the sixth child in a family of five boys and two girls. After graduating from St. Mary’s School in Alton, she went to Nursing School and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She eventually became a surgical nurse who practiced in the Sioux City area for nearly 40 years She was a member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City. On April 4 of this year, she moved to the Sunrise Retirement Community. “Lowie” enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, watching sports, bowling, gardening and fishing. She was a great cook and known for the special dishes she brought to family gatherings. She had a great sense of humor, quick wit and a beautiful twinkle in her eyes. She loved to help friends and family and was always there for us. Survivors include a brother, Jim Even, of Port Clinton, Ohio; a sister, Carol, and her husband, Jeff Halstrom, of Yuma, Arizona; two sisters-in-law: Lois Even, of Alton and Janet Even of Colorado Springs, Colorado ; 31 nephews and nieces; and many friends. In addition to her parents, Mary Lois was preceded in death by four brothers: Jay Even; Michael Even and his wife Jane; Jack Even; Tom Even and his wife Dorothy; and a sister-in-law, Carol Even.
