Description	:	Mary Lola McDevitt-Fletcher Wasson, 92, of DeWitt passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt, with burial at Villanova Cemetery. Casket bearers were her nephews, Jim and Joe McDevitt and David, Alan, Ed, Paul, Jerry and Marty Kagemann. Honorary pallbearers were her two nieces, Sandy Utley and Mary Ellen Gelaude. Mary was born April 14, 1922, in rural Clinton County, the daughter of Harry and Blanche McGarry McDevitt. She graduated from Elvira High School in 1940. She married Harry Fletcher in 1949 in Camanche and he died in 1968. She later married Pete Wasson in 1972 in Las Vegas, and he died in 1988. Mary worked at Iowa Mutual Insurance Co. in DeWitt and later as a secretary with Trans-America Insurance, where she retired. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed gardening, baking, dancing, listening to country music, her favorite stuffed kitty cat named Lulu Belle, spending time with her nieces and nephews and drinking a cocktail. Mary is survived by two nieces and eight nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; a special friend, John Seifert; three brothers; and a sister. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church or Westwing Place. The family would like to thank Westwing Place and the hospital for their care and love for Mary.
