Funeral services will be Monday, May 12 in St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at De Smet with the Rev. Cathal Gallagher officiating. Burial will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cemetery. Osthus Funeral Home of De Smet is in charge of arrangements. She was born April 26, 1903 to Jacob and Susan (Bechler) Goldsmith at Alvord, Iowa. Osthus Funeral Home of De Smet is in charge of arrangements. She was born April 26, 1903 to Jacob and Susan (Bechler) Goldsmith at Alvord, Iowa. She moved with her family to the Lake Preston area in 1911 and later to a farm south of Erwin where she attended rural school with her eight brothers and sisters. She married John Joseph Doyle on Sept, 18, 1926 at Oldham. The couple farmed south of Erwin for 50 years until retirement in 1973 and moving into De Smet. John died in 1980 and she continued to live in De Smet and entered the Good Samaritan Center in 2004. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a long time member of the Erwin Birthday Club. She enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking, playing cards, and always made guests welcome in her home. She was a caring mother and homemaker. Survivors include four daughters, Rose Marie (Vernor) Nelson of Madison, S.D., Patricia Rasnic, Miami, Fla., Evelyn (Verle) Conner, Sioux Falls, JoAnn and Terry Bartholemew, Plymouth, Minn.; 15 grandhcildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
