Mary Lou graduated from Winfield High School in 1945, and then graduated from Pioneer College of Business at Iowa Wesleyan College. She was secretary for the Personnel Office of Sheaffer Pen Co. in Mt. Pleasant and later worked in the Business Office at Iowa Wesleyan. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #626; VFW Auxiliary #5143; James Harlan Chapter of D.A.R.; Chapter L of TTT Society; and was an active member of the Olds United Church of Christ where she held several offices. She enjoyed her family, helping on the farm, genealogy research, crafting with wood, and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, daughter Becky Boal, infant twin daughters, sisters Virginia Lee and Lucile Owens and one brother Eugene Baker.
