Description	:	Mary Liechty Mary Lou Liechty, 86, of Mount Pleasant died at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant. Born July 16, 1924, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Glen and Pauline Ledger Dunlavy. On Oct. 20, 1946, she married Max Joseph Liechty in Mount Pleasant. He died Feb. 6, 1989. Read More	Mary Liechty Mary Lou Liechty, 86, of Mount Pleasant died at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant. Born July 16, 1924, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Glen and Pauline Ledger Dunlavy. On Oct. 20, 1946, she married Max Joseph Liechty in Mount Pleasant. He died Feb. 6, 1989. Mrs. Liechty worked at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and at the former Emerson Electric Plant and for SAGA Food Services at Iowa Wesleyan College, both in Mount Pleasant. She worked several years as a home health aide. She wintered in Florida with her husband for several years, moved to Oregon for a couple of years, and returned to Mount Pleasant She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, St. Alphonsus Altar and Rosary Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 7561 in Mount Pleasant and Rural Letter Carrier Auxiliary. She and her husband "adopted" Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, hosting events and meals for fraternity members. She made latch hook rugs for grandchildren with their names and birth dates, and enjoyed crocheting and other needlework. Survivors include two sons, Joe Liechty and Jerry Liechty, both of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant children, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, her parents and one brother. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and the Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 5 p.m. The funeral Mass for Mrs. Liechty will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. A memorial has been established for St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
