Description	:	WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Mary Lou Roof, 95, will be held at 1pm Friday, March 5, 2010, at Northside Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Cloud and Rev. Steven Allen. Interment will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon 1pm prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Roof, widow of Colie Wade Roof, died Monday, March 1, 2010. Born on July 3, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Homer Menscer and Ottie Lee Milsaps Menscer. She attended the University of South Carolina and Soula Business College in New Orleans, LA. Mrs. Roof graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She was employed with the Baptist Sunday School Board, Nashville, TN, for 5 years in the Book Store, later to become Lifeway Christian Resources were she worked as manager for 30 years in Columbia, SC. Mrs. Roof was a member of Northside Baptist Church; she was active in Sunday School and Homebound Ministry, and served 18 years as a volunteer at Baptist Medical Center. Surviving are her sisters, Olene Sasser of China Grove, NC, Lucille Rayson of China Grove, NC and Billie Abernethy of Salisbury, NC; brother, Armond Lee Menscer of Fayetteville, NC; step-son, Dr. Wade Clark Roof and his wife, Terry of Santa Barbara, CA; one granddaughter, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Roof was preceded in death by two brothers, Archie W. Menscer, and Garlin D. Menscer.
