Mary Louise Kaufman was born May 22, 1941 in Belle Plaine, the daughter of Clark and Patricia Durham Warnick. On June 25, 1960, she was united in marriage to Charles Kaufman and they made their home in Chelsea where they farmed. He preceded her in death September 5, 1997. She was a homemaker and had worked at Harris Flowers, Meskwaki Casino, sorted corn at Funk's, and taught baton twirling. She was a 47-year member of the Belle Plaine American Auxiliary Legion, member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She moved to her present home in 1982. She enjoyed feeding the birds, caring for her plants, and visiting with family, friends, and former classmates. She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Paul) Gensley of Victor, Ellen Waterbury (fiance Dave Sherwood) of Chelsea, and Peggy (Dave) Watts of Montezuma; two sons, Mark (Sherry) and Curt (Tara), both of Chelsea; 13 grandchildren, Ashley (Tim) Murty, Chason, Levi, Sierra, and Wyatt Kaufman, Clay Waterbury, Krystal (Adam) Talvert, Colin, Cole, and Garrett Watts, Samueal, Alex, and Nicole Gensley; two great-granddaughters, Kaylynn and Kari Jo Murty; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded ind eath by her parents; an infant son, James; one brother, John Walther; and one son-in-law, Steve Waterbury.
