"Adams County Free Press" (Corning, Iowa) August 7, 1952 (Thursday) Page 8, Column 1, Obituaries column "Mary Louise Harrison, daughter of Waldo P. and Cornelia Thompson Baker, was born in Flint, Michigan, Dec. 31, 1874, and passed away at her home in Cromwell, July 31, 1952, at the age of 77 years and 7 months. When she was 10 years old, she moved with her parents from Michigan to a farm in Adams County, 4 miles west of Cromwell, where she lived until her marriage to Louie U. Harrison, Feb. 16, 1899. They established their home on an adjoining farm, where they resided until they moved to Cromwell in 1938. Her husband passed away in 1945. Surviving are three sons, Claude M., Warren C., and Glenn L., all of Cromwell, two daughters, Mima Janky, of Corning and Ferne Davis of Cromwell, one brother, Phil T. Baker of Eldora, ten grandchildren, and one great grandchild. One daughter, Florence, died in infancy. At an early age, she united with the Congregational Church. She took an active part in the Ladies Aid, and was president for many years. She was vitally interested in the Missionary Society, serving as president there also, and was always ready with counsel and advice, when she was no longer able to take so active a part. For many years she taught a class of boys in Sunday school, and most of the younger men in the church remember her as their teacher. She also attended afternoon Sunday school services at Center School as long as they were held there. She was Cradle Roll Superintendent until the time of her death. Most of the years of her life she cared for her invalid mother, her step-grandmother, her father, and her husband during their illness. Her genuine interest in people was a gift few people have. The community will miss a true Christian friend. Funeral services were held at the Cromwell Congregational Church Sunday at 2 o'clock, Mrs. Clifford Buxton and Mrs. Marshal McLaughlin sang, "Saved by Grace" and "God's Tomorrow" with Mrs. Robert Gordon pianist. Pall bearers were: Gail Bailey, Johnny Cramer, Omar Cannon, Lester James, Clarence Stevens, and Marshal McLaughlin. Those attending from a distance were, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hulstedt, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hulstedt of Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Eastman Knuckles, Mrs. Phil Baker and Mrs. Martin from Eldora and others from Creston, Corning and Prescott."
