Pleasant, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Scott Burns. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1942, and worked for Columbus Hayes at Hayes Elevator in Mt. Pleasant after high school. On Sept. 12, 1946, she married Donald E. McCormick in Mt. Pleasant. They raised a family and farmed in Canaan Township, where she resided until her death. Mary McCormick served on the Mount Pleasant School District Board for 18 years. She was appointed to the Iowa Girls Athletic Union where she served for many years and was a lifelong member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Survivors include nine daughters: and three sons {names omitted for privacy}; 31 grandchildren; and one sister, Joanne Buch of Fairfield, Iowa. Mary Louise McCormick was preceded in death by her husband; one sister and two brothers.
