Description	:	Mary Louise Newton Gladson, 88, widow of Baron Blakely Newton, Sr., and John H. "Jay" Gladson, Jr., died Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Gladson was born March 13, 1928, in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Godfrey Dempsey "G.D." Gladson and the late Elizabeth Caroline Smith Gladson. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and most of all spending time with her family. "Jay" Gladson, Jr., died Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Gladson was born March 13, 1928, in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Godfrey Dempsey "G.D." Gladson and the late Elizabeth Caroline Smith Gladson. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and most of all spending time with her family. She was survived by two sons, Baron B. Newton, Jr. (Judy) of Lake Charles, LA, and Myrick Corbett Newton, Sr. (Sherrilyn) of Andrews; two daughters, Cindy L. Newton and Charlotte N. Skipper (Kevin), both of Georgetown; two stepsons, Ray E. Gladson (Gaye) and John G. Gladson both of Roanoke, VA; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty G. Scherich of Redondo, CA; four special friends, Margaret and Bobby Burton, Evelyn Washington, and Ruby Woodsides. She was preceded in death by her husbands; three sisters, Lena Gladson, Peggy Turner, and Bernice Smith; and two brothers, Albert Gladson and Paul Gladson. Funeral services were Saturday, September 17, 2016, in First Baptist Church. Dr. Ted Sherrill officiated. Burial followed in Sampit United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ridgeway Funeral Home of Georgetown was in charge of arrangements.
