Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory in Yankton, South Dakota with Reverend Dr. Paul Opsahl officiating. Mary Louise Peterson was born August 20, 1927 in Poynette, Wisconsin, the daughter of William Elmer and Matilda (Nichols) Llewellyn. Early in her childhood, she moved with her family to the Yankton area. She attended country school east of Yankton. She was united in marriage to Bert O. Peterson on January 24, 1959. Following her marriage, she received her G.E.D. Mary was a cook for many years, working in several restaurants. In 1962, the couple moved to Kellogg, Idaho. In 1969, they moved to Arizona In 1981, they returned to Yankton. After returning, she received her dietician degree. She worked as a dietician for Mickelson Nursing Home and later Sunshine Nursing Home in Yankton. Her husband passed away May 18, 2005. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crocheting. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her three children: Roberta Ferguson and her husband George of Fairview, Oregon, William Peterson and his wife Joyce of Yankton, South Dakota, and Les Peterson and his wife Debbara of Norfolk, Nebraska; a brother-in-law: Raymond Peterson of Yankton, SD; a sister-in-law: Agnes Sparks of Yankton, SD; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter yet to arrive; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 brothers: Harlan, Herbert, and Eugene; and a sister: Ruby Anders.
