Read More	Mary Louise McMahon \| 1928 - 2016 \| Obituary Funeral Service Saturday, Jul 16, 2016 10:30 AM-11:30 AM Mary Louise McMahon November 27, 1928 - July 11, 2016 Mary Louise (Sieverding) McMahon, 87, of Hartford passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on July 11, 2016. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 16 at St. George Catholic Church in Hartford. Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday with a rosary followed by a prayer service at 7 pm, all at the church. Kinzley Funeral Home, Hartford Chapel is assisting with the arrangements. Mary Sieverding was born on November 27, 1928 near Humboldt, SD to Harvey and Adella (Kueter) Sieverding. She grew up in the Humboldt area and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Mitchell, SD. The Homecoming queen photo of mom was dad’s favorite picture. Mary and Francis McMahon were married on November 3, 1948 at St. George Catholic Church in Hartford where they remained lifelong members. They farmed north of the Hartford area until they retired in 1990 and moved into Hartford. Mary was a strong and faith-filled woman who overcame childhood rheumatic fever, the loss of Kathleen (age 3) from leukemia and together with Francis raised their modest-sized family in their well-plumbed (after 1962), one bathroom home. Mary was active at St. George with religious education, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was also active in West Central Music Boosters, 500 Card Club, 4-H, American Legion Auxiliary and attended many, many religious and school events for children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved nature-- horses, flowers, gardening, bird watching-- as well as the piano and singing. Although she never obtained a driver’s license, she was an expert driving instructor and had nerves of steel. Mary was blessed with fifteen children: Kathleen (deceased 1952), Jean (Bob) Kehrwald of New Prague, MN, Donna (Dean) Doss of Brookings, SD, Colleen (Tom) Puthoff of Humboldt, SD, Patrick (Betz) of Sioux Falls, SD, Betty (Dan) Irvine of Garretson, SD, Tim (Patty) of Hartford, SD, Mary Kay (Mike) Bannwarth of Sioux Falls, SD, Brian (Pat) of Hartford, SD, Terry (Linda) of Hartford, SD, Steve (Kaye) of Lincoln, NE, John (Julie) of Hartford, SD, Judy (Dan) Krier of Ames, IA, Susan (Jim) Appl of Aberdeen, SD, and Joyce (Chad) Caldwell of Brookings, SD. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Francis in 2015, her parents, daughter Kathleen, grandson Thomas, William Sieverding, Harvey Jr. “Bud” & Helen Marie Sieverding, George & Sylvia McMahon and Pat & Gerald Healy. She is survived by fourteen children, fifty grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, her brother Francis “Hans” & Phyllis Sieverding, Helen (Billy) Sieverding, Carol (Bob) McMahon, Duane & Darlene McMahon and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Compassionate Care and Synergy staff for their loving care of our parents. We also want to thank Father King and the St. George Eucharistic Ministers for their many visits.
