Description	:	Mary Lueder Nye, 81, Lincoln, died Saturday (6-28-08) after a lengthy illness. Longtime resident of Lincoln, she graduated from Iowa State University with an applied art major, and devoted herself to a wide variety of volunteer art and music organizations in Lincoln and Omaha. She was a past president of the Nebraska Art Association, a long-serving docent at the Sheldon Art Gallery, and an early worker for the children's symphony concert series. Read More	Mary Lueder Nye, 81, Lincoln, died Saturday (6-28-08) after a lengthy illness. Longtime resident of Lincoln, she graduated from Iowa State University with an applied art major, and devoted herself to a wide variety of volunteer art and music organizations in Lincoln and Omaha. She was a past president of the Nebraska Art Association, a long-serving docent at the Sheldon Art Gallery, and an early worker for the children's symphony concert series. With her husband of 59 years, Dr. William Nye, she was a strong supporter of Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra and the Municipal Band. She enjoyed travel and participated in more than twenty Smithsonian Institution study tours and hikes, as well as over twenty trips to England and many small ship cruises around the Mediterranean, Italy, Scandinavia, Sicily and Scotland. She was a talented tennis player and golfer when young, once being the Ladies golf champion of Northeast Nebraska. She was a member of PEO Chapter BR, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, DAR, Colonial Dames, the Mayflower Society, and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Survived by husband – Dr. William Nye, daughter Nancy and husband Dr. Gregory Gordon of Decatur, IL; sons Dr. Hoyt Nye and wife Catharine of St. Paul, MN, Eric Nye, Ph.D. and wife Carol Frost, Ph.D of Laramie, WY, together with five grandchildren. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 14th, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 6001 A St. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Plainview, NE following the funeral service.
