Calderwood died yesterday morning at the hospital where she had been for some time following an accident, ill health previous thereto being augmented by the injury no doubt. The funeral services are to be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church and will no doubt bring a large attendance of those who have known this pioneer lady for many years. The deceased, as Mary M. Clapp, was born on Oct 7, 1851, at Palentine, Ill., and thus was almost four score years of age. She was married on January 11, 1893, her husband passing away in Illinois March 3, 1907. She homesteaded in Banner county in 1890, removing to Illinois in 1905, and following her husband's demise returned to Gering in 1908, where her home has been since. Only one son survives the deceased, Floyd G. Calderwood, who is city clerk of Gering. A brother, Jones M. Clapp, lives at SanBernardino, California, and a sister, Mrs. Linna Calderwood, at Wheatland. Several grandchildren and other relatives also mourn her loss. Mrs. Calderwood was a member of the Methodist church and also of the W.C.T.U. Many friends accumulated during the pioneer days and since join in regret because of her passing, her circle of friends being comprehensive of this general election .
