Description	:	Mrs. Mary Kiker, wife of W. C. Kiker of Goose Creek township, died at the hospital in Charlotte Saturday, Feb. 15th. She had an operation for appendicitis a few weeks ago, and was apparently recovering when pneumonia and other complications developed, and her strength was not sufficient to survive although she made a desperate fight against the monster death. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn their loss. Two daughters are married. They are Mrs. Atlas Rowel and Mrs. John Drake. There are four daughters and two sons left at home. Mrs. Kiker was about 50 years old, and had for several years been a faithful member of Zion Methodist church, near Unionville. She was a devoted wife and mother. Sister Kiker will be missed in the community and in the church, but most of all in the home where the children so much needed her motherly care. She was anxious to live and care for her family, and shortly before her death she expressed a hope that she would recover. But in spite of all that physicians, nurses and a loving husband could do, she passed away to be with Jesus. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved family and bid them look to Him who is able to give consolation in every time of trouble. -- T. J. Huggins.
