She had been a resident of the center since May 1970. She was born May 27, 1896, in Rensselaer to Frank L. and Sarah Stockton Hodshire. She was first married in 1917 to Ray Fisher, who died March 12, 1931. Fisher was shot and killed in the line of duty while serving as the White County Sheriff. His wife was appointed to fill the post, and at that time was the first and only female sheriff in Indiana. In March 1949, she was married to Arthur G. McBee, who died October 7, 1977. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, Thalia Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Delta Theta Tau, White County Hospital Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, and First Mothers Club. She lived in White county most of her life, and was a graduate of Monticello high school in 1914. After serving as sheriff, she was a caseworker for the White County Welfare Department for more than 30 years. Surviving are two sons, William M. Fisher, and Robert G. Fisher, publisher of the Monticello Daily Herald Journal, both of Monticello; a sister, Jean All, Monticello, and seven grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded her in death. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Miller Voorhis Funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials in her name may be made to White County Memorial Hospital.
