Mrs. Oaks was a member of West Side Christian Church and an employee of the Dietary Department at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Survivors include a son, David Matthew Oaks, Elizabethton; two daughters, Cirie Blevins and Meslissa Oaks, both of Elizabethton; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Terry Dale and Shon Blevins, Elizabethton; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amy and Kevin Collins, Elizabethton; a great-grandson, Brandon Dale Blevins, Elizabethton; and three sisters, Ruth Peters and Wanda Lyons, both of Elizabethton, and Stella Potter, Ross, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. OAKS -- Funeral services for Mary Maude Townsend Oaks, 71, 416 Field Road, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Mr. James D. Curtis and Mr. Greg Key, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of David Arney, organist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be David Meredith, Jim Barnes, Ted Hamilton, Tony Hyder, Jimmy Townsend and Greg Lyons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Wells, Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Physicians and Staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Physicians and Staff of Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Elders and Deacons of West Side Christian Church, the Fellowship Class of West Side Christian Church and the Carter County Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence any time. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the West Side Christian Church (Building or Paving Fund), 1307 West G Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the American Heart Association (The Mended Heart Foundation), 208 Sunset Drive, Suite 356, Johnson City, TN 37604.
