Mary Maxine Loehrer was born in Fonda, Iowa, on July 6, 1919, the daughter of Otis and Anna (Swink) Dickerson. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Fonda. Mary Maxine Loehrer was born in Fonda, Iowa, on July 6, 1919, the daughter of Otis and Anna (Swink) Dickerson. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Fonda. Maxine then graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Fort Dodge in 1941. On August 18, 1942, she married Lawrence Loehrer in Boone. The couple later divorced. Maxine worked in the Obstetrics Department at Boone County Hospital. Later, she worked as a nurse at the former Ruth's Nursing Home for two years. Maxine returned to the hospital and became Head Nurse for the Obstetrics Department. She retired from the hospital with over 25 years of service. Maxine was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union, and the Iowa State Nurses Association. She enjoyed sports, especially basketball and baseball, reading, especially mysteries, traveling, and flower gardening, especially roses. Maxine was an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law Duane Lassen, and a cousin Loretta Davidson. Maxine is survived by her son Michael Loehrer and wife Ann of Dublin, Ohio; two daughters, Judy Loehrer of Boone and Kathleen Lassen of Ft. Collins, Colorado, five grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren: Molly (David) Ketcham of San Antonio, Texas and their children Paige, David, and Murphy; Matt (Robyn) Loehrer of Olathe, Kansas and their children Eve, Tommy, and Addie; Alex (Abby) Loehrer of Springfield, Ohio, and their children Oscar, Genevieve, and Kingston and a girl due in July; Erika (Brian) Neyt of Eagle Point, Oregon, and their children Hayden, Brennen, and Connor; and Jay (Kelly) Lassen of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and their children Jonah, Aubrey, and Demri; and a cousin Pat Davidson of Storm Lake.
