Description	:	Maxine Chesnut, age 87, of Clarksville, was born the daughter of Ray and Leola (Hutchenson) Hahn on April 13, 1924 at her parent’s home in Allison, Iowa. She graduated from Bristow High School and later attended Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. On October 13, 1942, Maxine was united in marriage with Henry Kielman on her parent’s farm. Read More	Maxine Chesnut, age 87, of Clarksville, was born the daughter of Ray and Leola (Hutchenson) Hahn on April 13, 1924 at her parent’s home in Allison, Iowa. She graduated from Bristow High School and later attended Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. On October 13, 1942, Maxine was united in marriage with Henry Kielman on her parent’s farm. The couple first lived in Greene and then moved to the farm near Clarksville. To this union eight children were born. Henry died August 13, 1974. Maxine was united in marriage with Reid Chesnut on February 14, 1975 and they farmed near Allison and eventually moved to Clarksville. Reid died August 28, 2004. Maxine worked at the care center in Greene as a Nurse Aide, was a helpmate in the farm work, was employed at C.A.R.D. Golf Course and was a cook and waitress at Pete & Shorty’s in Clarksville. Maxine was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, rural Clarksville, where she was also an active member of the Women’s Fellowship. Maxine was known for her good cooking and baking. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, sewing and gardening. She loved to spend time with her flowers and mowing the lawn. She was often referred to as “Grandma Kitty” by the grandchildren. Time spent with her family, especially the little ones, were special to her. Maxine died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville of complications of a stroke. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Henry Kielman and Reid Chesnut; two brothers, Burdine Hahn and Gary Hahn in infancy; two sisters, Betty Weiland and Delores DeBerg, one grandson, Treven Kielman in 2006 and one son-in-law, Kenny Heath. Maxine is survived by three sons, five daughters, 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers-in-law, three step-sons, 17 step grandchildren; 33 step-great grandchildren and one step-great-great grandchild; and a very special friend, Dott.
