She was born Feb. 23, 1909, in Deshler, the daughter of Andrew "Jack" and Georgia (Dickeroff) Spahr. In 1928, she married Lloyd Skiver, who died in 1988. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, its Ruth Circle and United Methodist Women where she was chosen "Woman of the Year" in 1983. Skiver, 97, Defiance, died at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, in Laurels of Defiance. She was born Feb. 23, 1909, in Deshler, the daughter of Andrew "Jack" and Georgia (Dickeroff) Spahr. In 1928, she married Lloyd Skiver, who died in 1988. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, its Ruth Circle and United Methodist Women where she was chosen "Woman of the Year" in 1983. She was a former Sunday school teacher, member and president for 40 years of Progress Sunday School Class and member and past president of South Richland Get-together Club. She was a former member of Highland Township Firettes and a member of Ayersville Dirt-Daubers Garden Club. Surviving are two daughters, Jill (Monte) Sanders of New Castle, Ind., and Cathy (Larry) Gaskill, Defiance; and six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Janice Bolman; and a brother, Donald Spahr. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Chrisman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Trinity United Methodist Church or Defiance Public Library.
