Baker Passed Away Tuesday After Months of Suffering. Deceased Was Well Along in Years and Had Long Been A Resident of Mt. Pleasant. Death Was Caused from Cancer of Stomach. Late Tuesday afternoon [October 9, 1906] occurred the death of Mrs. D. H. Baker at her home on South Jefferson Street. Mrs. Baker was quite an old lady and for three months had been confined to her bed, suffering with cancer of the stomach. Some days she was worse and others better, but the disease gradually fastened itself upon her, until there was no hope of relief. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by relatives and friends. The deceased has lived in Mt. Pleasant for many years and was known and highly esteemed by a large circle of friends. She leaves a husband [Daniel Henry Baker] and several grown children. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the home. [Mary was the daughter of John Jackson Morrow and Patience Tuttle.] Mt.
