Read More	Mary Myrtle Foote, daughter of Charles A. and Mary Lincoln Foote, was born May 25, 1870 in Adams County, Iowa and passed away at her home in Corning, Iowa on Saturday, July 7, 1957 at the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 22 days. Miss Foote had been faithfully cared for in her home the past four years by Miss Stella Caven. Miss Foote's early education was acquired in the country schools and graduation from the Corning High School. She then went to Tabor College at Tabor, Iowa graduating from that school of learning and in about the year of 1900 went to Turkey, where she devoted seven years of her life as a foreign missionary. Upon her return to the states, she was field secretary for the Women's Board of Missions of the Interior for 22 years. Her life has been one of service to her fellow man. For she taught many years in the colored schools of the south and was always much more interested in devoting her time and talents to helping underprivileged, than in her own financial welfare. Not only did she devote her time to teaching, but she was always devoutly interested in helping young men and women gain a education, making many loans to those whom she felt worthy, and who in turn paid her back in kind but most of all in gratitude for her help and inspiration. For it was an inspiration to anyone interest in the finer things of life and service to come in contact with her and to know her. Not only did she devote her very soul to the work of her Master, but she faithfully ministered to her aging parents in caring for them in their declining years. And at an advanced age, she again taught in one of the colored schools of the South, her interest in missions and education for the underprivileged never waning. She was devoted to the Congregational faith, as her denominational faith but most of all to her Lord and Master. Those surviving Miss Foote, are two nephews and one niece, Charles Homan of Corning, Miss Edith Dustin of Farmington, New Mexico, and Edmund Homan of Denver, Colorado. Also an aged brother-in-law, Albert Homan of Farmington, New Mexico; four great-nephews and nieces and several cousins and many friends who will kindly remember her for her long and useful Christian life. Her parents, five sisters, and two brothers have preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 10, 1957 at 2 p.m. from the Lines Funeral Home in Corning, conducted by Rev. W. H. Sinning. Music was by Mrs. Doyle Tranbarger, Mrs. Albert Peckham, and Mrs. John Champ. Interment was by cremation. Servant of God well done.
