Although her health had been failing for some time, she didn't become bedfast until Friday, July 7, when her condition became serious. Mary Neilsen was born October 25, 1859, at Westerhausen, Denmark. She came to this country with her parents at the age of ten years and settled at McGregor, Iowa, later moving to Clinton. In 1877 she was united in marriage to James Beaver at Baldwin, Iowa, living there a year and then moving to Jewell, Hamilton county, where they resided until 1883. Then they moved to Woodbury County and settled near Oto, where she lived until November 1938, when she moved to Anthon. Her husband preceded her in death April 16, 1935. To this union were born seven sons and four daughters, two of whom preceded her in death: Ida Manson in 1929 and Morton Beaver in 1931. She is survived by six sons, Frank of Walthill, Nebraska; Albert, Ardo and Louie of Anthon, Aaron of Oto and Roy of Cherokee; three daughters, Eva J. Bell of Leeds, Iowa; Margie Ives of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Elva Burow of Anthon; one brother, L.C. Neilsen of Omaha, Nebraska; twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Three grandchildren preceded her in death: Beatrice Manson in 1919, Doris Manson Schmidt in 1930, and Junior Burow in 1938. At an early age she gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized at the age of sixteen in the Dunkirk Church, serving her master faithfully until the end. She was a loving, devoted mother and took a great interest in her home. Although she had gone through many hardships and experienced much suffering, she always was ready to help those in need and tried her best to lead them to live godly lives. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, July 14, at 2:30 p.m. in the Anthon Assembly of God church, with Rev. F.O. Hannan officiating. The pallbearers were three sons, Frank, Albert and Aaron, and three sons-in-law, John C. Burow, Mark Bell and Earl Ives, at her request. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery beside her husband and son.
