Description	:	One of the most widely known and best loved women of Tipton county, Mrs. Mary Kigin, age 85, widow of the late John Kigin, one-time Jefferson and Liberty township farmer died at Mercy hospital in Elwood at 3:15 o'clock Friday afternoon. Read More	One of the most widely known and best loved women of Tipton county, Mrs. Mary Kigin, age 85, widow of the late John Kigin, one-time Jefferson and Liberty township farmer died at Mercy hospital in Elwood at 3:15 o'clock Friday afternoon. Mrs. Kigin was taken to the. hospital five weeks ago when she contracted pneumonia and was making a gradual recovery when she suffered a slight stroke four weeks ago. Apparently better for a time, she was unable to withstand the,ravages of the complications which arose from the two ailments. All of the sons came home to visit their mother at the hospjtal during the first week of her illness, one coming from California, one from Florida, and one from Minnesota, and three others from their homes in Indiana. Funeral services will1 be held at 9:00 a. m., Monday at St. John's Catholic church with the Rev. F. Joseph Bilstein officiating. The casket was returned from Young's funeral home to the late home at 4:00, o'clock Saturday afternoon. Friends may call at the home, 340 North West street, until the hour of services. Mrs. Kigin was a devout member of the Catholic church and was a member of the Rosary society of St. John's catholic church here In Tipton. She was a charter member of the Home Economics association of Tipton county, an organization which now encompasses 10 or 12 different clubs and has a membership of several hundred women. She had lived all but three years of her life in Tipton county and for the past 17 years resided in the city of Tipton. Born In Raleigh, Indiana, on Oct. 20, 1855, she was a daughter of Clement and Ellen (Smith) O'Toole. The family moved to Curtisville when she was three years old and she lived in that community until the time of her marriage to John Kigin on June 27, I873. After their marriage, she and her husband went to housekeeping in Jefferson township and then 39 years ago, in 1902, moved to the Kigin farm In Liberty township. Mr. Kigin died in 1917, and 17 years ago. Mrs. Kigin and her daughter, Ella, inseparable companions, moved to Tipton, building the present Kigin home on North West street. Survivors include six sons and the daughter, Ella M. at home. The sons are M. X. Kigin of Tampa, Fla.; J. C. Kigin of Indianapolis; L. C. Kigin of Terra Haute; Leo K., of Mankato, Minn.; Clem of Redding, Calif., and Louis Kigin of Gary. Two sons preceded the mother in death, Edward N. Kigin in 1904 and Dr. T.F. Kigin in 1924. Survivors also includa a sister,Elizabeth Mattingly of Tipton and 15 grandchildren four great-grandchildren. A brother, L C. O'Toole, died a year ago, and another brother Tom O'Toole of Kokomo, passed away seven years ago A sister Mrs John Lagan, died nine years ago.
