Obituary notice: The Piedmont Herald, June 8, 1900- - Mrs Gilbert, wife of Mr James Gilbert, Esq., of Westernport, died at her residence June 1, 1900 of peritonitis. She had been ill but a short time. Beside her husband, she left a family of ten children to mourn her untimely death. Her age was 41 years, 4 months, and 21 days. She had been ill but a short time. Beside her husband, she left a family of ten children to mourn her untimely death. Her age was 41 years, 4 months, and 21 days. Mrs Gilbert was a native of England, having been born at Cumberland in that country in 1858. She came to America at about the age of 14 and has resided in this community but a short while. The funeral took place at St John's M.E. church Sunday. There were many from a distance attending the funeral among whom were the following immediate relatives: Mrs Eliza Parker, mother of the deceased; and John and George parker, brothers of the deceased, of Elk Garden; Mrs Shep Edmunds, a sister of Connellville; Mrs Sarah Dawson, Mr George Richards and wife, Mrs Sadie Trexler, Mrs Mattie Bobo, all of Keyser; Mrs MacCormie of Lonaconing; Mrs Mary Richards of Scottsdale; and Mrs Samuel Gilbert of McKeesport. Interment was in Philos cemetery. Contributed by John Fazenbaker Some of her children were, Minnie A. Morgan, Beatrice Draheim (-1967), Ruth Nolan, Parker, J. Thomas (-1966) and James.
