The Chipman family (adjacent north of Howell Cemetery in section 45) and Goodrich family (adjacent east of Howell Cemetery in section 46) were neighbors in Locke. The age of Mary (King) Hill as of the 1850, 1860 and 1870 US Census records for Mayfield, Cuyahoga, Ohio in which she appeared suggest she was born in about 1825; and if this was the case, she and her siblings Julia, Eliza and Thomas were born in 4-year calendar intervals (1817, 1821, 1825, 1829). Mary (King) Hill died before the second marriage of George Hill to Jane Gardner on 30 Oct 1879. In section 32 of Orange Township (photo attachment), her father Thomas H. King owned 60 acres as of 1852, and 102 acres as of 1858. In 1874, Thomas; by then age 82 and a widower, still owned 20 acres and had deeded 50 acres to Thomas C. King that were listed under the abbreviated married name of his wife Mary Ann (Hitchcock) King, whom he had married in 1851 and in whose household the elderly Thomas and Anna (Goodrich) King had resided in the 1870 US Census, and Thomas had also deeded 30 acres to George and Mary (King) Hill that were listed under the name of their eldest son Charles Hill in the map.
