Mrs. Mary P. Pence passed to her reward at about 11 p. m. She had been in failing health for several months. Obituary Mary Priscilla Harn, daughter of T. F. and Martha Harn, was born in Carmichal, Penn., Nov. 26, 1852, and passed away at her home one mile west of Moravia, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 1938, where she had lived for 55 years, at the age of 86 years and four days. When five years old she came with her parents to Moravia, Iowa, and has resided in or near Moravia for the past 81 years. On March 10, 1874 she was married to P. D. Pence. Five children were born to this union, four sons and one daughter: A. E. of Melrose, Iowa; Mrs. Will Morgan and J. D. of Moravia; Bert and Zell of Albin, Wyoming. Her husband preceded her in death 27 years ago. She was a charter member of the Moravian church but later transferred her membership to the Cumberland Presbyterian church of which she was a faithful member. Coming to this country in an early day, she knew what pioneer days were, and witnessed many changes in modes of living and transportation. She loved her home, was of a cheerful disposition, virtuous, and honest, and led an active and industrious life. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her five children, one brother, Hiram H. Harn of Stockton, Kans.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Frank Swaim home Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. T. J. Zike officiating.
