Polly was—and remains—a common nickname for Mary; Polly Anderson may be the same as Mary Anderson, a daughter of Margaret (née Scott) and Ezekiel Anderson. Ezekiel Anderson died reportedly during the War of 1812 while stationed at Fort Findley. (The fort was built in 1812, when American troops under Gen. William Hull were marching on Detroit.) According to an abstract of Franklin Co., Ohio, estate settlements, Margaret Anderson in 1813 was one of four administrators of Ezekiel Anderson's estate. "Mary and Jane Anderson, over age of 12 yrs. chose their mother Margaret Anderson as guardian and the court appointed their mother as guardian of John aged 9 yrs., Esther, aged 4 yrs. And Margaret, aged 2 yrs." Ohio Source Records from The Ohio Genealogical Quarterly (Baltimore, Md.: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1993), p. 167. Looking at the three other Anderson marriages in Franklin Co. in the 1810s and 1820s, the Jane Anderson who on 27 Oct 1823 married George Feasle appears to be a likely match for the Jane Anderson in the estate record. This marriage ceremony was performed by Isaac Painter (probably Nathaniel Painter's father), who was a Jefferson Township justice of the peace in 1821-24. Reviewed 6 January 2020.
