While declining in health she had only been seriously ill since Friday. Mary Rebecca Gaines, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Stuart, pioneer settlers of Leonard; was born near that place March 4, 1853, being at the time of her death 77 years of age. She was married to W. T. Gaines, who preceded her in death, dying in the year 1905. She is survived by two daughters and three sons, namely, Mrs. Laura Johnson, of Enid Okla.; Mrs. Bertie Woodward, of Leonard, Perry E. Gaines of Woodward, Okla.; Charles M. Gaines, of Kansas City; Paul of Leonard, also eight grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Allen, of Bethel; J. M. Stuart and Henry Stuart of Leonard and Kelly of Woodward, Okla. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the church at Leonard with Rev. A. Munyon conducting the services, and burial was made at the Leonard cemetery. Leonard, Mo., Oct. 22.—Mrs. Mary Rebecca Gaines, 77, died Sunday morning at 7 o'clock, in her home here following a short Illness. She had been a resident of Leonard for almost forty years. She was the widow of W. T. Gaines. She was born north of here on March 4, 1853, and had been a lifelong resident of Shelby county. Mr. Gaines died in 1905. She was a member of the old Antioch Christian church, north of here. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Laura E. Johnson, Enid, Okla., and Mrs. Bertie Woodward of Leonard; three sons, Perry E. Gaines of Woodward; Chester N. of Kansas City and Paul Gaines of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Dodd of Woodward and Mrs. J. D. Allen of Bethel, and two brothers, Dave and Henry Stuart of Leonard. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Leonard Christian church, conducted by the Rev.
