She was a young woman, only 28 years old, the mother of three children. She was the daughter of Elijah Roberts, and was married in 1893. Less than a month ago, her brother, A.D. Roberts, was killed by a boiler explosion at the mines near Joplin, and the double calamity was well nigh broken the hearts of the aged parents, who were so prostrated that they were not able to be at the funeral. Services were held at the Christian church on Sunday afternoon, conducted by G.W. Brown, and the remains were interred in the Cherokee cemetery. the church was crowded with weeping neighbors and friends, whose hearts went out in pity for the bereaved ones who have been called upon to bear his double bereavement and for the husband who with his little ones stood weeping over the coffin that contained their treasure.
