Description	:	Mary Ruth Lippy, of Hampstead, departed this life August 9, 2008, in Westminster, after a five year battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Howard E. Garrett, Sr., and Treva A. (Richarts) Garrett. Mary Ruth graduated from Manchester High School and was a graduate of Towson University with a degree in finance and accounting. She worked for Merrill Lynch, Alexander Brown and PSA financial centers. Mary Ruth was a member of the Piedmont Pacers, a local walking club, and the Volkswalkers. Read More	Mary Ruth Lippy, of Hampstead, departed this life August 9, 2008, in Westminster, after a five year battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Howard E. Garrett, Sr., and Treva A. (Richarts) Garrett. Mary Ruth graduated from Manchester High School and was a graduate of Towson University with a degree in finance and accounting. She worked for Merrill Lynch, Alexander Brown and PSA financial centers. Mary Ruth was a member of the Piedmont Pacers, a local walking club, and the Volkswalkers. She was a life time member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Westminster, and was an avid bridge player. Before her illness, she enjoyed walking, tennis, cycling and skiing. She enjoyed planning and arranging trips with her husband, family and friends. Planing trips to New Zealand, Argentina, Scotland, Saba, and St. Maarten, were memorable for her, she had a fondness for Stowe, VT, where she traveled to ski for 40 years. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. Mary Ruth was especially proud that the grandchildren followed her son as a students and graduates of Virginia Tech University. She was the wife of Richard D. Lippy, her husband of 54 years, and surviving, in addition to him, are a son, Keith R. Lippy and daughter-in-law, Diane Lippy of Westminster; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Violet A. Davidson of Fallston, MD, and Treva A. Rimbey of Hampstead. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Russell, Kenneth and Howard Garrett, Jr.; and a sister, Frieda Garrett Sandruck. Interment was in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester.
