Description	:	Mrs. Mary Christy was born in Coal Valley, Ill., October 26, 1859. The early part of her life was spent near Coal Valley and at the age of 19 she was married to Wm. M. Christy and they located near Lenox where she has since resided. About 45 years ago she united with the Church of Christ at Lenox, later transferring her membership to the Blue Grove church where she was a faithful and earnest worker as long as her health permitted. She served as president of the Ladies Aid Society, was Sunday superintendent Superintendent of the Cradle Roll Department, and... Read More	Mrs. Mary Christy was born in Coal Valley, Ill., October 26, 1859. The early part of her life was spent near Coal Valley and at the age of 19 she was married to Wm. M. Christy and they located near Lenox where she has since resided. About 45 years ago she united with the Church of Christ at Lenox, later transferring her membership to the Blue Grove church where she was a faithful and earnest worker as long as her health permitted. She served as president of the Ladies Aid Society, was Sunday superintendent Superintendent of the Cradle Roll Department, and was a teacher of the primary class for 14 years. She was a great lover of children and was always happiest when doing some act of service for her children and friends. About 18 months ago she was stricken with paralysis from which she gradually grew weaker until she passed away at her home 7 miles southwest of Lenox early Thursday morning, August 9, 1934, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 17 days. She is survived by three children, Chas. Elrod Christy, Mame G. Hunter and Edw W., all of Lenox, one grand, one brother, B. Huber, and many other distant relatives. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Christian Church in Lenox conducted by Rev. L. V. Freeman of Guthrie Center, former pastor of the Lenox church.
