Mary Samantha Lyon was born at Elgin, Iowa on December 9, 1870 and died at Creighton, Nebr. on April 6, 1942 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 28 days. Read More	Mrs. James Squire Taken by Death Following a nine day illness, Mrs. James Squire passed away at her home on Monday evening at 8:30. Death was due to bronchial pneumonia. Mary Samantha Lyon was born at Elgin, Iowa on December 9, 1870 and died at Creighton, Nebr. on April 6, 1942 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 28 days. The deceased came to Nebraska with her parents, Charles and Sarah Lyon on October 28, 1871 and located at Bazile Mills. After completing her education in the schools there and in Creighton, she taught school for nine years in Knox county. On March 24, 1897, her marriage to James Squire occurred at Creighton. They located on a farm near Venus, Nebr. and resided in that vicinity until 1905. They then moved to another farm near Bazile Mills and lived there until 1923. Deciding to retire after many hard years of labor. Mr. and Mrs. Squire then purchased a home in Creighton and she with her husband has resided in this city up to the time of her demise. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Squire were nine children and all are living except one son, Edward, who preceded her in death in 1935. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, three daughters, Bessie Ellingson, Bazile Mills; Hazel at home; Mildred Eastlick of Salem, Ore.; and five sons, Ezra and Harold of Creighton, Charles of Winnetoon; Frank of Elizabeth, Colorado and Laurance at Camp Roberts, Calif. Others who grieve her departure are one sister, Mrs. John Neyens of Winnetoon, 8 grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs. Squire lived nearly her entire life in Knox county and thus another one of those sturdy pioneers have gone. She was a devoted wife and mother whose interest centered wholly in the home and welfare of her family. Her devotion to them will ever remain a precious memory. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 from the Methodist church. Rev. Burl Tappana will officiate at the rites.
