Mary Sue was born in St. George, SC to the late Parker Davis Canaday and the late Mary Lucyle Shieder Canaday. She was a retired registered nurse. Mary Sue was a member of Four Holes Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her husband and family. Survivors include a son, Gerald W. Fersner (Julie); two daughters, Denise Sikes (J.D.) and Janet F. Fairey (Jimmie); grandchildren, Jonathan Sikes (Casey), Jaime Wise (Cody); Kayla Fricke and William Fersner; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Elaine Canaday and Evelyn Avant (Carlisle). In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Davis Canaday and Virgil Canaday. Memorials may be made to Four Holes Baptist Church, 1622 Four Holes Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115 or the Sumter SPCA, 1140 S. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
