Mary Sue Cromer Elgin, age 88, formerly of Anderson, was living in Oneida, TN, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Born in Royston, GA, on February 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late D.O. Cromer and the late Pearlie Roach Cromer. She was a talented seamstress who enhanced the beauty of many homes, churches, and businesses. She is survived by her children, Timothy Alan Elgin and his wife Melissa, of Townville, SC, Jimmie Sue Roberts and her husband David, of Anderson, SC and Rebecca "Becky" Moore, of Oneida, TN; two brothers, James Donald Cromer, of Townville, SC and Frank Avery Cromer, of Belton, SC; five sisters, Gladys I. Cromer and Donna Pettit Ellis, of Anderson, SC, Bonnie Spain, of Pembroke Pines, FL, Merle Witcher Brown, of Toccoa, GA and Doris Veal, of Royston, GA; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Elgin, son, John Daniel Elgin; son-in-law, Ken Moore; brothers, Edward and Sidney L. Cromer and sisters, Grace Edmonds, and Shelvie Dyar Johnson. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Brent Lollis officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service on Monday, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
