Description	:	MRS. MARY S. MILLER Mrs. Mary S. Miller died Nov. 30th at her home near Greenville where she was born and lived for 76 years, and the remains were taken December 1st to Mt. Carmel church, where the burial services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. A.H. Hamilton and laid to rest in the cemetery nearby. The pallbearers were Messrs. S.F. McClure, J. Van Walton, J.W. Miller, Wm. Bell, James Williams and S.A.D. McKee. Mrs. Miller was a most estimable woman, a kind and indulgent Christian mother, evidenced as nothing else could do, by the kind and faithful attention she received from her three daughters, who ministered to her every want to the last, Misses Laura and Alice and Mrs. Maggie A. Hawpe. She was the oldest of the family of the late Alexander Brownlee, who was an elder in the Bethel Presbyterian church, and commenced serving her Master in early life and connected herself with that church, where she continued until her marriage to Cornelius G. Miller, when she joined Mt. Carmel on certificate in 1876, where she remained a consistent member until her death. She was quiet and unobtrusive in her manner. In all the sorrow and trouble of a long life, she was never known to murmur or complain, but was always able to say, as was her custom, "We know who sends these things." Her mother died when she was quite young and she took up the responsibility of housekeeping and the care of the young family, which duties she kept up at the same place as long as she was able, and now her children rise up to call her blessed. She seldom visited even among her most intimate friends, but was fond of company and always had time to entertain them when in her house, and especially did she enjoy the visits of her pastor, which pleasure increased with her until her death. She had two brothers and two sisters all of who preceded her to the grave.
