Description	:	Last week, brief mention was made of the sad death of Mrs. Matthew Kelroy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jones of this city, which occurred at Tacoma, Washington, Monday evening, Feb. 11. In September Mr. and Mrs. Kelroy left Mason City for Washington, anxiously hoping that the change of climate would benefit her. Read More	Last week, brief mention was made of the sad death of Mrs. Matthew Kelroy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jones of this city, which occurred at Tacoma, Washington, Monday evening, Feb. 11. In September Mr. and Mrs. Kelroy left Mason City for Washington, anxiously hoping that the change of climate would benefit her. For some time, she felt better, but later she began to decline, and subsequently died. Her remains arrived in this city Monday morning and were taken to the home of her aged parents. The funeral was held Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.; Father Youngblood celebrated a requiem high mass at Assumption Church. The burial was in Saint John’s Cemetery. There was a large procession of old friends and neighbors of the deceased. The pallbearers were: Thomas Kirby, P.V. Hand, E.P. McEvoy, T.J. Duffy, J.P. Stebbins and W.J. Branagan. Mary Theresa Jones was born near Lansing, Allamakee County, on June 6, 1871. In October 1872, Mr. and Mrs. Jones and family moved to this county and settled on a farm in Great Oak township. Miss Jones became the wife of Matthew Kelroy, Jan. 7, 1892. For a year or so they resided at Ruthven, after which they moved to Mason City and made it their permanent home. Two sons and one daughter were born to them. The sons are Emmet 15 and Elias, 12. The daughter, Sylvia, is 9 years old. Besides the parents of the deceased, there were seven brothers, and one sister surviving her. They are William, Charles and Elias F. of Glover, North Dakota, R.E. of Winona, Minnesota, Peter E. of Stanley, North Dakota, Bernard of Vivien, South Dakota, James P. of Emmetsburg, and Mrs. William Hopson of Saint Paul, Minnesota. The death of this most exemplary Christian lady, under the circumstances mentioned, is indeed a sad blow to the husband and their little family as well as the aged parents and other surviving relatives. The deceased spent 21 years of her active and most useful life in this locality. She was a friendly, pleasant, happy girl and she made many warm and lasting friends.
