Mrs. Blankespoor, the former Mary Van Kley, was born October 27, 1878, in The Netherlands (sic). She came to the United States and to Sioux Center in 1890. She had resided in the sioux Center area since then. She was married to Hitjo Van Der Veen on April 12, 1910, at Sioux Center. He died December 18, 1934. She was married to Maas Blankespoor on February 22, 1937, at Sioux Center. He died March 20, 1953, at Sioux Center. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Henry Bouw of Hospers, la; a step-daughter, Mrs. Peter Schouten of Sioux Center; a step-son, Henry M. Blankespoor of Inwood, la.; two brothers, Arthur Van Kley of Sioux Center and William Van Kley of Jenison, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Ralph Achterhof of Sioux Center; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
