Since 1970 she had resided at the St. Anthony Nursing Home. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Church by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Leo Lenz, V.F. The rosary will be recited Monday at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Borchert was born at Hawkeye Sept. 26, 1901, a daughter of Mike and Mary Riley. She spent her early years in the Hawkeye vicinity and then came to Carroll to make her home with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Riley. She graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll. On Dec. 27, 1924, she married Walter H. Borchert at West Union and they made their home in Carroll until 1942, when they moved to an acreage 7 1/2 miles northeast of Glidden. Mr. Borchert died July 13, 1968, and she returned to Carroll the same year. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and Women's Guild. Mrs. Borchert is survived by three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Marie Borchert and Mrs. Elizabeth Riley of Carroll and Mrs. Beth Riley of Millbank, S.D.; two brothers-in-law, Joseph W. Daniel of Carroll and Edward Koehler of Hawkeye; a niece and two nephews. Two brothers, Edward and Michael Riley, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Koehler and Bessie Riley, preceded her in death.
