Description	:	Mary Viola Sowers, 92, died Monday, Oct. 10, 1983 at the Oak Park Care Center in Nevada. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada. Rev. Walter Lack of the Nevada Memorial Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Murphy Cemetery in rural Nevada. Sowers was born to Samuel and Mary Bell (Mitchell) Townsend on Sept. 10, 1891 in McCallsburg, Iowa. She was educated in the Nevada Public Schools. She was married to C. B. Wright, who died in 1914. She was educated in the Nevada Public Schools. She was married to C. B. Wright, who died in 1914. She then married James Sowers on July 12, 1916. He died in 1974. She lived much of her life in the Fernald area, and was a member of the Nevada Memorial Lutheran Church. Sowers is survived by one son, Gerald Sowers of Oskaloosa; two daughters, Velda Cluck of Vallijo, Calif., and Rachel Jensen of Brayton; one sister, Pearl Deal of Ames; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
