Description	:	SALISBURY -- Mary Virginia Cox, 89, of Salisbury was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at her home. She died in her sleep of heart failure. Born on Jan. 12, 1917, in Whitesville, she was the daughter of the late Hyland and Lula Figgs Hill. She was a retired seamstress who worked many years for R.E. Powell's and Benjamin's. Never really retired, she went back to work at John B. Parsons Home for 16 more years as a cook. She loved to cook for her family and friends. For many years her faithful companions... Read More	SALISBURY -- Mary Virginia Cox, 89, of Salisbury was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at her home. She died in her sleep of heart failure. Born on Jan. 12, 1917, in Whitesville, she was the daughter of the late Hyland and Lula Figgs Hill. She was a retired seamstress who worked many years for R.E. Powell's and Benjamin's. Never really retired, she went back to work at John B. Parsons Home for 16 more years as a cook. She loved to cook for her family and friends. For many years her faithful companions were her pet dogs, Baby, Peanut and Buddy. She loved animals. She enjoyed visiting, shopping and going out to eat with her daughter. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Nettie L. Kelly of Salisbury; 10 grandchildren, Kathy Hayward, Lisa Watson, Mike Kelly, Kenny Kelly, John Abbott Jr., Randy Abbott, Penny Donalds, Ethel Elliott, Bill Cox and Mary Ann Wallace; brother-in-law, Ollie Campbell; daughter-in-law, Anna Mae Cox; son-in-law, John Abbott Sr.; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar F. Cox; daughter, Betty Abbott; son, John H. Cox Sr.; three grandsons, John Cox Jr., Mickey M. Kelly and David W. Abbott; sisters, Ethel Hill, Margie Godwin, Elizabeth Davis and Margaret Campbell; brothers, Paul, Walter, Herman and Earl Hill; and son-in-law; Kenneth C. Kelly. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Howard Travers will officiate. Interment will follow in Melson's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Delmar. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Wicomico County Humane Society, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, Md. 21804 or the charity of the donor's choice.
