Description	:	Mary Von Wald Thieman was born at Alma, Wis., May 2, 1882. She came to South Dakota with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Von Wald, when three weeks old. They settled on a farm seven miles southwest of Groton in Henry township, later moving to this city in 1908. She was married to Oscar G. Thieman in March, 1909. She came to South Dakota with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Von Wald, when three weeks old. They settled on a farm seven miles southwest of Groton in Henry township, later moving to this city in 1908. She was married to Oscar G. Thieman in March, 1909. The couple established their home on a farm two miles northeast of Stratford. In the fall of 1915 they came to Groton, where the deceased has since resided. Funeral services were held Friday at St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. R. M. Grundmeier officiating. The choir sang, accompanied by Mrs. Eugene Neuman at the organ. Burial was in the Groton cemetery. Pall bearers were six nephews, Clarence, Milton, Donald Von Wald, Elmer, Richard and Earl Zoellner. Mrs. Thieman was well and favorabley known in the Groton and Stratford communities. Friends and relatives learned with regret of her departure Monday night, May 21, 1956, at the age of 74 years and 19 days. She was a thoughtful, generous wife, mother and friend; a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran church for 41 years, and secretary of the Ladies' Aid for 17 years. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives in their loss. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Evelyn, and two sisters, Elizaveth Zoellner and Barbara Rose. Survivors include her husband; one son, Milton of Lake Park, Iowa; two grandchildren, Russel Thieman, Phoenix, Ariz., and Miss Jeanine Thieman, Lake Park, Iowa, one great grandchild, Patricia Diana Thieman; also two sisters, Mrs. Anna Zoellner, Mrs. Otto Zoellner (Christina) and five brothers, Conrad Von Wald, Stratford; Val, Groton; Walter, Aberdeen; George, Seattle, Wash., and Ora, Portland, Ore. Relatives from away attending the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Orville Honeyman, Mr. And Mrs. Emil Bartz and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Askling, Reeder, N. D.; Arnold Rose, Bucyrus, N. D.; Walter Rose and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rose, Hettinger, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Thieman and Miss Jeanine, Lake Park, Iowa, and Douglas Thieman of Spearfish.
