Dak. Obituary Matha Schrank was born in a sod house in Davison County to Elizabeth and Carl Knappe. Her mother passed away at a young age so it was necessary to discontinue he education and stay at home to care for the others of the family. On November 13, 1906, Matha married A.C. Schrank. They farmed 13 miles south of Mount Vernon, S.D. They adopted a boy, Lewis Schrank. After the death of her husband in 1945, "Mate" moved to Mt. Vernon. She lived there until moving to the Pleasant View Home in October of 1977. She passed away on Friday morning, February 15, 1980. Mate was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Hillside, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Later she transferred to the St John Lutheran Church, near Corsica, where he is still a member. She leaves to mourn her death, her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Helen Schrank of Mt. Vernon, one grandson, one sister, Mrs. Matilda Wentworth of Mitchell, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, one grandson, her parents, four sisters, and one brother. * contributed by Travis Bolt
