Description	:	August 12, 1909 - Carroll Times - Mathias, son of Andrew and Mary Masching, whose home is on the former Wm. Schultes farm in Maple River township, died last Friday of an affection of the heart, resulting in inflamatory rheumatism, of which he suffered for the past six years, dropsy later aggravating his state of ill heath and for the past nine weeks he was racked by great pain. Read More	August 12, 1909 - Carroll Times - Mathias, son of Andrew and Mary Masching, whose home is on the former Wm. Schultes farm in Maple River township, died last Friday of an affection of the heart, resulting in inflamatory rheumatism, of which he suffered for the past six years, dropsy later aggravating his state of ill heath and for the past nine weeks he was racked by great pain. His death was not unexpected and the patient sufferer's longing was for relief from his ills and to go home to the Father above. Departed was born at Loretto, Livingston Co., Illinois, August 26, 1897. He was therefore 11 years, 11 months and 11 days old at his death. He was a good boy, kind to parents, brothers and sisters, patient in his afflictions and the hearts of those loved ones are filled with grief that their efforts to bring him back to health proved unavailing. He is mourned by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. The funeral took place at nine o'clock Monday forenoon from S$. Peter and Paul's church of this city attended by large numbers of neighbors and old friends of this vicinity and Templeton. Interment took place at the Catholic cemetery. To the bereaved parents the death of their boy has brought deep woe though his life was frought with perpetual pain and their most assiduous care could but alleviate his sufferings. He was their darling who through years of pain had become attached to their hearts with the strong bands of parental love and sympathy. They have rendered back to the Father the dear child He gave them. He is harbored where earthly temptation and the besetting evils shall not touch him forever. A bright spirit, he shall hover over those he loved while on earth and lead them nearer to the heavenly home as their life shall wane.
