Read More	Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), November 15, 1934, p. 1, col. 5 DEATH OF MATT BESCH FUNERAL SERVICE SATURDAY Life-Time Resident Near Bellwood Died Saturday Morning. Bellwood, Nov. 14 – Matt Besch, 45 years of age, resident near Bellwood all of his life, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 10, at 9:50 o'clock, at his home 1½ miles southeast of Bellwood. His health was always perfect until a few months ago. He underwent a surgical operation for gallstones 2½ months ago and was much improved in health for a while, being up and around, but soon after began to fall again and was bedfast for ten days before his death. Mr. Besch was born near Bellwood August 11, 1889. On March 1, 1916, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Beringer. To them were born seven children, six sons and one daughter, of whom three sons and the daughter preceded their father in death. The surviving sons are Matt Jr., Francis and Kieran Norbert. Besides his wife and sons, Mr. Besch also leaves one sister, Mrs. Pete Nicholas, and one brother, Frank J. Besch. Mr. Besch was a man of sterling moral character and kind disposition, well thought of and respected by all who knew him. He was a kind, affectionate and faithful husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends. He was a patient sufferer in his illness, and never complained. That he was highly esteemed by all was proven by the large number of friends who called to pay their last tribute while the body lay in state at the home, also by the many spiritual bouquets and floral offerings and the large attendance at the funeral, said to be the largest ever held in Bellwood. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Reddy at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at St. Peter's Catholic church, Bellwood, where Requiem High Mass was offered for the repose of his soul. The pallbearers were Joseph Nicolas, John Morbach, Hiller Smith, Peter L. Smith, William Puetz and Nick Hiller. Burial was in St. Mary's and St. Peter's cemetery, Luxemburg, beside the graves of his sons and daughter. Those who came from elsewhere to attend the funeral were Jacob Beringer, Sr., Jacob Beringer, Jr., Miss Mary Beringer, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Meysenburg, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bongers and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Milburn, relatives, and a large number of friends, from David City; Mrs. William Frey, Rev. Benevenute Miller, Frank Fischer and ten classmates of Matt Besch, Jr., from Humphrey; Mr. and Mrs. William Henggler, Miss Anna Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Barnes and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gumm, from Columbus; Mrs. Louis Bongers and family, from Brainard; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Klein, of Surprise; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eichmeier and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nantkes, of Ulysses; and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hastert and Mr. and Mrs. William Kosch of Shelby. __ Card of Thanks – We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all our neighbors, friends and relatives for their help and thoughtfulness during the illness and at time of death of our dear husband, father and brother.
