Description	:	Final rites were held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church for Mrs. Mathilda Peper, 81, who died December 22, 1958, in Loring Hospital, Sac City. Rev. Paul Potter officiated at the service. Casket bearers were Floyd Parkinson, Jasper Therkelsen, Harold Wollesen, John Batie, Henry Stock and Chas. Peterson. Burial was in the Wall Lake Cemetery with Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Carson Cram and Mrs. Jasper Therkelsen arranged the flowers. Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. W.K. Hunter at the organ. Mathilda Peper began her life April 11, 1877 on a farm northwest of Lake View. She was one of eight children of Henry and Margaret Kastner and died at Loring Hospital Monday, December 22, 1958, following a stroke suffered Friday morning having reached an age of 81 years. At the age of 17, and upon the death of her mother, she took over the responsibilities of caring for her brothers and sisters. In 1901 she was united in marriage to William Peper. To this union were born two daughters, Irma, Mrs. Harry Thiessen of Sac City, and Stella, Mrs. L.R. Batie, of Lake View. In 1923 they took into their home three orphaned nieces, Margaret, now Mrs. Frank Masterson of Lovelock, Nevada; Edna, now Mrs. C.O. Hatcher of Chillicothe, Mo., and Irma Kastner who died in 1950. Her husband died February 7, 1928 after which she moved into Lake View where she lived for eight years, the only portion of her life which she did not live on the farm on which she was born. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and later affiliated with the Methodist Church in 1928 in Lake View. She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service from which she received an honorary life membership. Surviving are two daughters; three granddaughters: Beverly, now Mrs. George Spencer of Fairborn, Ohio; Margaret, now Mrs. Dean Holland of Greenfield, Iowa; and Cynthia Thiessen of Sac City; two great-grandchildren: David and Julie Spencer; and two sisters, Mattie Watts of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Margaret, Mrs. William Schade of Holstein, Iowa.
