Renshaw, aged 41 years, 2 months, 5 days. Mary Ann Hafer was born at Ft. Hamilton, N. Y., September 16, 1851; moved with her parents to Union county, Iowa, in 1855 and has since resided here. At the close of the war, the family of seven children were forced to separate, Matie finding a home with the family of Hon. N. W. Rowell. She was married to A. W. Renshaw on the 25th day of May, 1869. She was the mother of four daughters of whom Nellie is married and resides in Clarinda. They, with the husband, are left to mourn her untimely loss. Mrs. Renshaw was a member of the Presbyterian church; was an earnest Christian and a devoted wife and mother. For fourteen long months she suffered untold agony, which medical science could do nothing to check and little to alleviate. She was sent to Chicago for relief and all the local physicians were consulted without result. Yet, with a wonderful vitality, she combatted the destroyer, step by step. We must believe that death came as a relief. The funeral was held yesterday at 10:30 A. M., at the Presbyterian church, the Rev. F. L. Goff pastor officiating. The edifice was crowded with sympathizing friends. After the service, the flower laden casket was conveyed to the cemetery where the interment took place. In conveying the tender sympathies of this community to the sorrowing husband, daughters and other relatives, it is but meet that we should point out to them that the sufferings of her whom they love have at least ceased; that the result, inevitable from the start and long delayed, came as a relief. she will be missed in other than the home circle, and the many friends of the family trust that a higher power will bestow that consolation in their deep grief, to which the hand of man is inadequate.
