Read More	January 2, 1913- Arlington Review Herald Elizabeth Matilda Johanna ( Laaker)Jacob Elizabeth Matilda Johanna Laaker was born on the Casper Laaker farm two miles northeast of Arlington, on the 29th day of May, 1880 and was married to Mr. Henry Jacobs February 27, 1902. After the marriage the young couple took up their residence near Kennard where they resided about one year, then moved to the old Henry Jacobs place where they still lived at the time of her death. Her illness had been of several years duration and for a time she was placed in the hospital at Fremont but after recovering to some extent she returned home, going thence on a trip to the Hot Springs of South Dakota. But improvement was only for a short time when the All Wise Father, Whose ways are not our ways, gathered her to His bosom where she enjoyed Christmas day with the angels in heaven. The funeral held at the German Lutheran church, Thursday, Dec. 26, was one of the largest ever held in this community. Rev. Hallerberg, who officiated, delivered two of the most eloquent and eulogistic sermons he has yet delivered in our midst. The sermons being one in German and one in English, reflected the position of esteem and fidelity which she occupied during the last years of her life. He spoke in glowing terms of her days of illness-of her untiring patience, of her struggle with the dread disease that eventually carried her to the great beyond, and of her coming to her last moments with a peaceful smile. She leaves three children besides her husband and relatives to mourn her demise: Elmer aged 9, Elsie aged 7 and Lillian aged 4. Her near relatives are Mrs. Henry Woodcock, Mrs. Lena Biermann, Louis Laaker, Herman Laaker and George Laaker. ~~~Obituaries courtesy of the Nebraska Washington County Genealogical Society.
