Read More	"MINER RETRIAL OPENS Convicted Two Years Ago, Has Been Serving Life Sentence" The retrial of Tilda Miner, formerly of Van Wert, this county, was opened at Anamosa, Iowa, Monday. The first day was given to picking a Jury, and the taking of evidence was started Tuesday. Twelve men and thirteen women were examined before a jury was selected. Mrs. Miner is serving a life sentence in the Rockwell reformatory, having been convicted of the murder of her husband, Edward Miner, 63, in February 1930. The trial disclosed a drab love triangle that Included Albert Hartwig, 60, widower and father of seven children. Hartwig was acquitted of murder in connection with the case, under charges of having purchased strychnine, which Mrs. Miner administered to her husband. Mrs. Miner has been sent to the Iowa City hospital several times since beginning her sentence and is reported to have undergone 11 operations. She is said to be in good health now. The Iowa supreme court remanded the case for retrial on the grounds that the first trial court omitted the word "knowingly" from its instructions to the Jury.
