S. Bettye. Another son, Marchant Respess, preceded his mother to the grave last Wednesday. One sister, Mrs. Albert Owens, Gwynns. Four half-sisters, Mrs. Everett Hall, Mrs. M. C. Figg, Mrs. Estelle Gibbler, one half-brother, Clarence Brown, all of Gloucester. Active pallbearers were: Garnett Godsey, Eugene Callis, Frank Powell, Garland Hall, Allen Owens and Leonard Gibler. Honorary were: Misses Audrey Respess, Ruby Godsey, Beatrice Owens, Florence Collier, Margaret Sparrow, Helen Hall and Doris Gibler. Those coming to the Island to attend the funeral of Mrs. Respess were Captain and Mrs. R. M. Callis, Baltimore; Rodney Callis of the S. S. Bettye; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Hudgins and Ashley Respess, Lynchburg; Stillman Hudgins, Mrs. P. E. Respess and son, "Donnie," and Miss Maude Respess, Norfolk; the Rev. and Mrs. J. T. Garland Moore and daughter, Gazelle, Allen Owens, and Miss Kate Suddith, Newport News.
